Dear Volunteers,
While getting in touch with the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago I came across a resource that many of our clients could benefit from. It is a legal clinic that the Legal Assistance Foundation manages in collaboration with the law firm DLA Piper and the Woodlawn Children’s Promise Community. The clinic handles housing, as well as other civil legal issues. It is located in the Woodlawn neighborhood, and takes place in the evening of the second Wednesday of each month.
The clinic offers legal help with: SSI/government benefits, child support, housing and other civil legal issues. ***The legal clinic will not handle criminal cases***
Date: Second Wednesday of every month
Hours: 4:00-7:30pm

I encourage you to distribute this information widely to anyone who you think would find it of use. This is an extraordinary resource given that most legal services and counseling are quite expensive and out of the reach of many people who need them. I hope this can assist some of you in making referrals to legal services!
